Ely folk fest day 1

We have just got back from Friday night at Ely folk festival. Highlights were in the local bands showcase – Tom Conway, Fred’s House and Gerard and the Watchmen. Jacqui also enjoyed Karine Polwart – the rest of us will catch her second set tomorrow.

Beer tent was also awesome. Lots of local ale.

turns out we are on at 6.10 on Sunday. Hope to see you there!

Getting ready for Ely Folk Festival

We are really excited to be playing at Ely Folk Festival this weekend! We played last year as part of the local band showcase, and this year we’ve been invited onto the main bill. We will be playing on Sunday evening from around 7pm if you’re there. But we will be on site drinking beer all weekend!

Hope to see you down the front. We think some day tickets are still available from www.elyfolkfestival.co.uk

Hello, you.

You’ve been very quiet recently, what have you been up to?

We’ve all been very busy with things that aren’t Jacqui and Geoff… House moves, work, weddings, that kind of thing. Before you know it, a year has passed and no one has updated the website.

But we’ve had some fantastic gigs – highlights have included a gig with our friends The Willows, our very own christmas gig at the excellent Corner House in Cambridge, local radio stardom and writing lots of new material.

We now probably have enough songs for two new albums, and if we can ever get the whole band in one place for long enough we might even record them!

Anyway, we’re planning on being a lot more proactive in the second half of 2013, so hopefully we’ll be updating this a lot more often.

You’re looking good, by the way. That top suits you.

Buzz Festival!

Jacqui and Geoff at the Buzz Festival

Playing at the Buzz Festival, Cambridge

We were privileged to close the outdoor stage at the Buzz Festival, Cambridge this weekend – a full weekend of some of the best bands in the city. We saw some fantastic acts too.

Getting a taste for outdoor acoustic gigs, which is lucky as we’re playing the Ely Folk Festival on 13 July, and have just confirmed that we’ll be playing at Milton Country Park near Cambridge on the Sunday of the same weekend.

Gigs and album info

Just a quick note  about some gigs we have coming up, and a bit more information about our new album, T-shirts with arrogant slogans.

Our next gig is next Friday, May 4, at the Portland Arms in Cambridge. It’s a charity fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards Leukaemia and Lymphoma research. We’ll be on early in the evening, and will be followed by the excellent Moth Conspiracy, and Go Romano.  Full details are at: http://on.fb.me/IwITxd

The album is now available! The best way of buying it is to come to a gig, as you then get to see our happy faces as we thank you profusely for your purchase. But if you’d prefer to buy online, the cheapest place is at Bandcamp: http://jacquiandgeoff.bandcamp.com. There you can listen to it first, or buy it as a download or as a CD for £5 (+P&P for the CD). If you order the CD, you also get the downloads immediately.  It’s also available on iTunes, Spotify and Emusic.

We’ve got a couple of other gigs lined up too – on June 10 we’ll be playing at the Elm Tree in Cambridge – we have the whole evening to ourselves, so will be playing a couple of sets, it should be fun! Then on Sunday, July 1st, we’re playing at the Corner House in Cambridge as part of the Buzz Festival – a weekend of the finest bands Cambridge has to offer. We’ll be playing outside in the beer garden, so we’re praying for sunny weather 🙂

Thanks for reading this far – hope to see you at a gig soon. If you do by the album, we’d love to know what you think, so do let us know.

Take care,

T-shirts with arrogant slogans – out now!

Jacqui and Geoff are proud to announce the arrival of T-shirts with arrogant slogans – our first feature length album.

A year in the making, we’re really pleased with it. It’s available on CD and on iTunes now – and will be coming soon to Spotify, Amazon MP3, etc.

If you’d like a copy, either buy from iTunes (iTunes link: T-Shirts With Arrogant Slogans – Jacqui and Geoff) – or for the CD version with lovely artwork, contact us (see the contact page above) or come to a gig (see the gigs page)!

We’ll be posting full liner notes and details on how the album was made in our next few blog posts, so check back for details.

For now though, we’d just like to thank the following people, who have helped make this happen:

Marc at Honesty Pot Mixing for the ridiculous amount of work he’s put into the tracking and mixing for this album – he’s possibly spent more time on it than the band.
Chris and Bobby at the Hub Sound Studios where we had a great time recording the bass and drum tracks.

Jacqui for the mastering

Stewart for the sleeve design – see www.stewartharrisdesigns.com

Nik for the printing

Alice, Claude, Liz and Vicky for their support.

Routenote – who appear to be handling the digital distribution really well (doing in one week what they promised in four).

Everyone that has booked us, come to a gig and said nice things, or been back to see us again – you’re all ace.

And you for reading this. We’d write more, but we’re starting to get a bit emotional 😉

~Jacqui and Geoff
